Baseball Game Preview: Grady Bronchos vs. Magdalena Steers

For the first time this season, Grady will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to challenge the Magdalena Steers at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Grady fell victim to Eunice and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They lost 8-0 to the Cardinals. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bronchos were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Magdalena had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Thunderbirds. The Steers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Javen Tafoya was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Herschbach, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Tafoya wasn't the only one making solid contact: Magdalena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in five consecutive contests.

Magdalena pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Grady, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
