Baseball Recap: Holgate Comes Up Short

Holgate fell victim to Liberty Center and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of Liberty Center by a score of 1-0. Holgate hasn't had much luck with Liberty Center recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Grady Hoffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Holgate saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zack Boecker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Boecker has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

Holgate's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Liberty Center, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7.

Looking ahead, Holgate will square off against Leipsic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty Center, they will take on Emmanuel Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
