Softball Recap: Rancocas Valley Has No Trouble Against Lenape

After losing to Lenape the last time they met, Rancocas Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 10-4 victory on Thursday. Considering the Red Devils have won three games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Molly Doppler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Gianna Simone was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That run was her first of the season. Ava Sweet was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Rancocas Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Rancocas Valley pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Lenape, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rancocas Valley will host Delran at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Devils 3.2, the Bears 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lenape, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Cherokee at 3:45 p.m.
