Baseball Recap: Lumberton Falls Short of China Spring in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lumberton can now relate to. They came up short against the China Spring Cougars on Thursday, falling 7-1.

Lumberton got a good showing from Mason Castolenia, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits Castolenia has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Lumberton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Pullen, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Lumberton's loss dropped their record down to 26-10-1. As for China Spring, the win (which was their 24th in a row) raised their record to 34-4.

While Lumberton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
