Basketball Game Preview: Van Buren County Eagles vs. White County Warriors

Van Buren County hasn't had much luck against White County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Van Buren County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully White County likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Van Buren County humbled Clay County with a 76-43 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Abigial Netherton, who shot 52% from the field en route to 25 points along with six assists and three steals. Her big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Cara Mills was another key player, going 10-for-14 on her way to 20 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, White County beat Cumberland County 72-68 on Friday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Jets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

White County's win came from a few key players that Van Buren County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ashlyn Selby, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Those 22 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Clark, who went 7-for-17 en route to 16 points and seven steals.

Van Buren County's win bumped their record up to 21-3. As for White County, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.

Van Buren County was taken down by White County 85-48 when the teams last played back in January. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 39-18.
