Baseball Recap: Clark Montessori Gets the Win

The third road matchup was the charm for Clark Montessori, as they earned their first away win of the season. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Western Hills Mustangs on Saturday. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered an 11-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Calvin Acosta made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jaxon Wilkerson and Chase Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Wilkerson scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Williams scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Wilkerson a new career-high in RBI (three). Carson Hunt also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Clark Montessori's record now sits at 3-4. As for Western Hills, they moved to 3-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Clark Montessori will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bowsher at 5:00 p.m. As for Western Hills, they will venture away from home to face off against Withrow at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
