Champaign Central is 0-6 against Springfield since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Maroons are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Senators at 6:00 p.m. Champaign Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 6.8 goals per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Champaign Central didn't have quite enough to beat Mahomet-Seymour and fell 3-2. The loss put an end to Champaign Central's undefeated start to the season.

Halle Roberts and Rylie Schulze scored both of Champaign Central's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Springfield entered their tilt with Jacksonville on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Crimsons a 7-0 shutout. Considering Springfield have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Champaign Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Champaign Central suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Springfield in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Maroons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
