Last Wednesday, Monomoy didn't have quite enough to beat Sturgis West and fell 3-2. While the Sharks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Navigators 25-19 in the first set.

Monomoy took Sturgis West into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-14, 25-21, 23-25, 17-15.

Meanwhile, Carver had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They blew past the Wildcats 3-0.

Carver's not only won, but also showed off some consistency: keeping Westport between 20 and 21 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.

Carver can attribute much of their success to Maeve Zakrzewski, who had nine kills, five blocks, and three digs. That's the most blocks Zakrzewski has posted in her last seven matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Adison Knall, who had three aces and a kill.

She wasn't the only good server: Carver was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in 14 consecutive games.
