Small-town star gives Cuonzo Martin a huge commitment.
It looks like Josh Pastner of Memphis isn't the only super recruiter in the state of Tennessee these days.
Tennessee received a pledge Monday from
Robert Hubbs of
Dyer County (Newbern, Tenn.), the second five-star talent to come on board during Cuonzo Martin's short stint in Knoxville. Hubbs' club coach, Ernie Kuyper of M33M Elite, confirmed his decision.

Hubbs, a 6-foot-4 scorer extraordinaire, is ranked No. 11 in the MaxPreps Class of 2013 Top 100. He's the second five-star guard to come off the board in three days following North Carolina State's weekend pledge from
Anthony Barber.
Hubbs is a major attraction in Newbern, tucked away in the northwest corner of Tennessee with a population of 3,200 (according to Wikipedia). He led Dyer County to a 30-2 record as a junior and should top the 2,000-point career mark this winter.
Partly due to Newbern's rural setting, national attention was slow to come for Hubbs. He finally got his chance to shine over the summer with M33M Elite – a program created by NBA veteran Mike Miller – and wowed with his size, quickness and scoring ability.
The Volunteers have now landed elite talents in two of the past three recruiting classes. Five-star power forward Jarnell Stokes was a five-star Class of 2012 prospect but fast-tracked his college career and enrolled in January, playing in 17 games and averaging 9.6 points per game.
In addition to Hubbs, the Volunteers also have a 2013 commitment from
Huntington Prep (W.Va.) guard
Travon Landry.
