Softball Game Preview: Superior Central Cougars vs. Bark River-Harris Broncos

The Superior Central Cougars will head out to square off against the Bark River-Harris Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Superior Central will be strutting in after a win while Bark River-Harris will be coming in after a defeat.

Superior Central will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Wednesday, then bounced right back against Manistique on Thursday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Emeralds with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Cougars not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 16, 2024 (when they won 10-0).

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Bark River-Harris and Westwood meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Broncos came up short against the Patriots, falling 18-3.

Ella Gonzales was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three stolen bases.

Bark River-Harris' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Superior Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Superior Central beat Bark River-Harris 12-7 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
