Preview: Northglenn Norsemen vs. Westminster Wolves
Northglenn has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Westminster Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northglenn comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Thursday, Northglenn took a serious blow against Doherty, falling 49-12. Northglenn was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Despite the loss, Northglenn got a solid performance out of Josiah'ez Stevenson, who rushed for 153 yards on only 15 carries. Stevenson's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Westminster were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by Denver East 62-10. While losing is never fun, Westminster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Denver East is ranked 27th).
Northglenn's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.2 points per game. As for Westminster, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Northglenn against Westminster in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 54-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northglenn since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
