Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Christian Lions vs. Sylva Bay Academy Saints

For the second straight game, Lamar Christian will face off against Sylva Bay Academy. Lamar Christian will head out to face off against Sylva Bay Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Lamar Christian was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Sylva Bay Academy 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won five in a row.

Maddox Rimes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Rimes wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blade Davenport, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another was Dallas Parker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Lamar Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

With the loss, Sylva Bay Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4. As for Lamar Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
