Baseball Recap: Regis Beats Santiam for Their Third Straight Win

Regis had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Santiam Wolverines. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-4 win on Friday.

Rook Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other pitching news, Korben Schumacher tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Luke Castillo was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Regis: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

Regis pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Santiam, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
