Football Game Preview: Junction Eagles vs. Somerville Yeguas + How To Watch

The Junction Eagles will face off against the Somerville Yeguas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Junction is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Junction is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Sabinal: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Eagles blew the Yellowjackets out of the water with a 56-7 final score. The Eagles pushed the score to 49-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellowjackets had no chance of recovering from.

Chasen Doyal had an outrageously good game as he threw for 242 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes. What's more, he racked up ten rushing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Junction's run defense was locked in: Sabinal could only muster 0.6 yards per carry. The Eagles' ground attack was stronger, having averaged three.

Junction didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Doyal and Hunter Dale, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Somerville, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in October. They breezed past Milano to the tune of 49-6 two weeks ago. The Yeguas haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Somerville's win came from a few key players Junction will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ja'Keith Daniels, who rushed for 157 yards and one TD on only seven carries, and also picked up 95 receiving yards and one score. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 91 yards. Colt Holton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Junction's record is now 10-0. As for Somerville, their record now sits at 6-4.

Everything came up roses for Junction against Somerville in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 32-0 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Yeguas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
