Baseball Recap: North Monterey County Comes Up Short

North Monterey County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Stevenson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 4-3. The Condors have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

JT Islas and Tyler Baldwin stepped up to the plate in a big way. Islas scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Baldwin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Baldwin has become a key player for North Monterey County: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. Brody Nelsen was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

North Monterey County's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Stevenson, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.
