Baseball Game Preview: Upper Lake Cougars vs. Kelseyville Knights

Upper Lake hasn't had much luck against Kelseyville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will square off against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Upper Lake has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Upper Lake is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Cloverdale, falling 19-3.

Meanwhile, Kelseyville entered their tilt with St. Helena on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Saints.

Brock Barrick made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Barrick wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reme Strong, who went 1-for-4 with two runs. That's the most runs Strong has posted since back in March.

Kelseyville's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Upper Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Upper Lake might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Kelseyville when the teams last played on April 8th. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
