Basketball Game Preview: Downers Grove South Mustangs vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers

The Downers Grove South Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Downers Grove South will be strutting in after a victory while Wheaton-Warrenville South will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Downers Grove South turned things around against Berwyn/Cicero Morton on Friday. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 51-39. Given Downers Grove South's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Berwyn/Cicero Morton is ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when Wheaton-Warrenville South took on Wheaton North on Friday. Wheaton-Warrenville South took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wheaton North. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wheaton-Warrenville South's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Downers Grove South, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Downers Grove South came up short against Wheaton-Warrenville South in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 58-54. Can Downers Grove South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
