Softball Recap: Archbishop Wood Wins Going Away Against Villa Joseph Marie

Archbishop Wood never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Villa Joseph Marie Jems with a sharp 9-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

The result came thanks to Graciene Gale's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Archbishop Wood got a big performance out of Haley Kley, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Kley a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Lilliana Walters, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Archbishop Wood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive contests.

The win got Archbishop Wood back to even at 2-2. As for Villa Joseph Marie, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Wood will host Central Bucks South at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Villa Joseph Marie, they will be playing at home against Hun at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
