Baseball Recap: Claremont Drops Season-High Score on Montebello

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Claremont). They never let the Montebello Oilers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolfpack needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Thomas Plotkin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Claremont is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5-1 otherwise. Plotkin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reed Miller, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Ramzey Farah, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Claremont pushed their record up to 6-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Montebello, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Coming up, Claremont will venture away from home to square off against Upland at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Montebello, they will head out to face off against the Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
