San Marcos barely beat Mission Hills the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The San Marcos Knights put the hurt on the Mission Hills Grizzlies with a sharp 9-1 win on Wednesday. That looming 9-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

Carter Tsai tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Maddox Ponsford was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Evan Hall was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

San Marcos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

San Marcos' record is now 3-1. As for Mission Hills, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos will take on Santa Fe Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Santa Fe Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mission Hills, they will square off against Carlsbad at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Carlsbad will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mission Hills surely won't give up without a fight.
