Softball Recap: Pike Liberal Arts' Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak on the Road

The third road match was the charm for Pike Liberal Arts, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Luverne Tigers on Thursday. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered an 11-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

Alissa Barron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haylie Brown, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Smith, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Pike Liberal Arts' win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6. As for Luverne, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 1-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pike Liberal Arts will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Headland at 4:30 p.m. on March 24th. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up.
