Basketball Preview: Big Spring Steers vs. Sweetwater Mustangs
The Big Spring Steers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Sweetwater Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. Big Spring has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Big Spring was able to grind out a solid victory over the Chiefs, taking the game 42-32.
Even though Sweetwater has not done well against the Tigers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sweetwater secured a 44-39 W over the Tigers. The victory was just what Sweetwater needed coming off of a 52-17 loss in their prior match.
Big Spring's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-24. As for Sweetwater, their victory bumped their record up to 17-12.
Big Spring couldn't quite finish off the Mustangs when the teams last played back in January and fell 50-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sweetwater's Mallory Gibson, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
