Football Recap: LBJ Austin Takes a Loss

LBJ Austin came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the Parish Episcopal Panthers, falling 55-22. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tre Riley, who threw for 102 yards and a pair of TDs on only five passes. LBJ Austin also got a significant boost from Marquis Murry II, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Marcus Hanish was his usual excellent self, rushing for 132 yards and two scores, while also picking up 71 receiving yards for Parish Episcopal. With that strong performance, Hanish is now averaging an impressive 103.2 rushing yards per game.

Having lost for the first time this season, LBJ Austin fell to 2-1. As for Parish Episcopal, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

LBJ Austin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 37-21 loss against Cornerstone Christian on the 25th. As for Parish Episcopal, they will face off against Legacy Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
