Basketball Game Preview: Lowndes Vikings vs. Mount Vernon Mustangs

The Lowndes Vikings will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Mount Vernon Mustangs on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lowndes saw some tournament action on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-45 win over Fort Walton Beach.

Kam Jackson had a dynamite game for Lowndes, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Jackson's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Martin, who posted six points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chattahoochee. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Cougars are ranked 150th).

Mount Vernon now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Lowndes, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
