Baseball Recap: Tazewell Victorious

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tazewell). They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the James Monroe Mavericks on Wednesday. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 win the Mavericks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Tazewell's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brody Myers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those runs were Myers' first of the season.

Tazewell's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for James Monroe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Tazewell will be taking part in a tournament against Woodrow Wilson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Flying Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for James Monroe, they will challenge Bluefield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mavericks are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
