Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Peoria Christian's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Peoria Christian's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They never let the Tri-Valley Vikings get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The Chargers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

Gavin Walder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Josiah Kniep was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Peoria Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

Peoria Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tri-Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7-1.
