Preview: Carol City Chiefs vs. Miami Beach Hi-Tides
The Carol City Chiefs will head out on the road to square off against the Miami Beach Hi-Tides at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Carol City pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Miami. Carol City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carol City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jahquori Lombrage, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Mikaili Taylor who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lombrage has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Decurtis Johnson, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Miami Beach's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They lost to American on the road by a decisive 80-64 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Carol City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Miami Beach, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.
Carol City came up short against Miami Beach when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 57-50. Can Carol City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
