Baseball Game Preview: North Polar Bears vs. St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians

North is 0-8 against St. Bernard's Central Catholic since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Polar Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Bernardians at 4:00 p.m. North has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

North is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 22nd straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 15-6 to Worcester Tech.

Meanwhile, St. Bernard's Central Catholic fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Lunenburg on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Blue Knights, falling 15-9. The Bernardians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Austin Gibbons put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Gibbons was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Angelo Barry and Jonathan Quigley did some serious damage despite the final result: Barry scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Quigley scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Quigley also hit a double, marking his first of the season. CJ Pelissier was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

North's record is now 0-5. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, their record now sits at 1-3.

North suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to St. Bernard's Central Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Polar Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
