Football Recap: Immaculata Starts off Right with Win over Kellenberg Memorial

Immaculata had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds 45-30 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Daysir Spille went supernova, rushing for 199 yards and six scores while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run. Another rusher making a difference was Nic Stokes, who gained 119 total yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Immaculata was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 358 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Immaculata didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Quinn Hayden led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Kellenberg Memorial's loss came despite strong showings from John Hastings and Brendan Barkley. Hastings picked up 128 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while Barkley rushed for 117 yards and one touchdown. Daniel Licari was another key player, having thrown for 368 yards and two touchdowns.

Immaculata wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 45-33 win against Peddie on the 5th. As for Kellenberg Memorial, they will face off against Xavier at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
