Softball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. North Lamar Panthers

Pittsburg is 2-8 against North Lamar since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Pittsburg will head out to square off against North Lamar at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pittsburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Paris a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when North Lamar took on Gunter on Tuesday. North Lamar came out on top against Gunter by a score of 7-4.

North Lamar is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. Pittsburg picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-7.

Pittsburg suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to North Lamar when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Pittsburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
