Baseball Recap: Clinton Victorious

Clinton came out on top against Petal on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Arrows narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Panthers 6-5.

Gage Temple looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ethan Dodson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Parker Barron, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Petal, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will be taking part in a tournament against Lewisburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Arrows 3, the Patriots 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Petal, they will welcome West Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
