Baseball Game Preview: Carrier Mills-Stonefort Wildcats vs. Cobden Appleknockers

Carrier Mills-Stonefort hasn't had much luck against Cobden recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Appleknockers at 4:30 p.m. Cobden took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Carrier Mills-Stonefort, who comes in off a win.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Fighting Cardinals. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Cobden was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They lost 10-0 to Trico. The shutout was out of character for the Appleknockers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Cobden, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort came up short against Cobden in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, falling 4-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
