Soccer Game Preview: Schenectady vs. Christian Brothers Academy

Schenectady hasn't had much luck against Christian Brothers Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Patriots are taking a road trip to square off against the Brothers at 4:15 p.m. Schenectady will be strutting in after a win while Christian Brothers Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Schenectady is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Hudson Falls an 11-0 shutout on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Christian Brothers Academy's game on Saturday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They came up short against Shaker, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Christian Brothers Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 295th, while Shaker are ranked fourth).

Schenectady's win ended a six-match drought on the road and puts them at 4-9-1. As for Christian Brothers Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-2.

Schenectady suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Christian Brothers Academy when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
