Basketball Recap: Knowledge Academies Comes Up Short

Knowledge Academies was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Smyrna Bulldogs, falling 51-18. Knowledge Academies lost against Smyrna in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 60-50 score last time.

Despite the loss, Knowledge Academies had strong showings from Nessiah Griffin-Washington, who posted two points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Marytxell Cruz Hernandez, who scored two points and six boards. Griffin-Washington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Knowledge Academies' defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Smyrna, with the win, they broke their 12-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knowledge Academies won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jo Byrns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smyrna, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Wilson Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Smyrna is facing Wilson Central at the right time seeing as Wilson Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
