Baseball Recap: Green River Comes Up Short

Green River was the 15-0 winner over Pinnacle when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5 on Friday. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Panthers since Friday.

Jason Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Rolando Anguiano made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristian Mendoza, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Green River's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pinnacle, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Green River will venture away from home to face off against Altamont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pinnacle, they will square off against Tintic at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
