Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Takes Down Ranked Ripley

Spring Valley faced Ripley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Timberwolves came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 9-5. For the Timberwolves, this counts as revenge for the 9-3 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Garrett Wagoner was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brody Spencer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Spring Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

Spring Valley's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Ripley, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

Coming up, Spring Valley will square off against Parkersburg South at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ripley, they will face off against Wayne at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
