Baseball Recap: Morgan Victorious

Morgan hadn't done well against Manti recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Morgan Trojans walked away with a 7-2 win over the Manti Templars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Cooper Stuart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Luke Bauerle and Beck Sheffield did most of the damage at the plate: Bauerle scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Sheffield scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Bauerle a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanyon Leonelli, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Morgan now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Manti, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Morgan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-4 victory against Beaver on the 7th. As for Manti, they have also already played their next game, a 7-6 loss against North Sanpete on the 7th.
