Anya Shah was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over 5.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Lucia Diaz was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Catherine Salas was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 19-1 to El Camino.
Jefferson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Martinez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Aasiah Martinez Sims also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Notre Dame, their victory bumped their record up to 14-9.
Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Notre Dame hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .145. Will they be able to contain Notre Dame's hitters?
Notre Dame took their win against Jefferson when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Regents have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
