While Marlington didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They skirted past the Minerva Lions 1-0. That's more bragging rights for the Dukes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Sam Yoder's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Marlington is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Minerva, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Marlington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
