Basketball Recap: Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Andre Martinez and Yamir Knight-Parker

Central lost against String Theory back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Central Lancers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 44-42 to String Theory, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Yamir Knight-Parker and Andre Martinez certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Knight-Parker went 7 for 14 en route to 16 points and six boards, while Martinez posted eight points and 17 rebounds. That was a full 38.1% of Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Christopher Brown, who earned six points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for String Theory, the victory snapped their losing streak at 12 games and leaves them with a 2-12 record.
