Softball Recap: Caruthers Has No Trouble Against Parlier

Caruthers won the last time they faced Parlier and things went their way on Friday too. The Blue Raiders blew past the Panthers 17-4. Considering the Blue Raiders have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Maria Flores and Madison Gamboa did most of the damage at the plate: Flores went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Gamboa got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Flores a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmi Almeida, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Caruthers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 15 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Caruthers is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Parlier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Caruthers has already played their next matchup (against Riverdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Parlier, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 defeat against Minarets on the 6th.
