Petaluma is 8-2 against Sonoma Valley since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Dragons at 4:00 p.m. Petaluma is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Petaluma's offense. They fell 5-0 to Casa Grande on Wednesday. The Trojans have struggled against the Gauchos recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Sonoma Valley brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They walked away with a 19-15 victory over Ukiah on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Dragons as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Morgan Briggs was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Llanos, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Petaluma's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Sonoma Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.

Sonoma Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Petaluma has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Sonoma Valley, though, as they've been averaging 12.5 hits. Given Petaluma's sizable advantage in that area, the Dragons will need to find a way to close that gap.

Petaluma beat Sonoma Valley 4-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
