Football Recap: Stoney Creek Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Stoney Creek gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over the Cousino Patriots. The Cougars pushed the score to 42-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.

Cousino lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Demarkus Wright, who rushed for 113 yards and one TD on only 14 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Cousino also got a significant boost from Daniel Carter, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.

Looking ahead, Stoney Creek will head out to square off against Lake Orion at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Cousino, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Grosse Pointe North at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
