Recap: Choctawhatchee Indians vs. St. Augustine Yellow Jackets

The Choctawhatchee Indians and the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Choctawhatchee Indians had to settle for second. They took a 35-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. Choctawhatchee's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Choctawhatchee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Johnson, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Cole Tabb was another key contributor, rushing for 156 yards.

It was another big night for Devonte Lyons, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns for St. Augustine. Lyons is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last seven games he's played. Locklan Hewlett also helped out by tossing the rock for 277 yards.

Choctawhatchee's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for St. Augustine, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record.

Choctawhatchee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Augustine will be playing in front of their home fans against Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Dunbar: 16.9, St. Augustine: 18) so any points scored will be well earned.
