Softball Recap: Greendale Comes Up Short

Greendale dropped their record down to 4-2 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 two weeks ago.

As for Wisconsin Lutheran, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. Considering they have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Wisconsin Lutheran's part, Sydney Vitangcol was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Vitangcol has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Haag, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sofia Schroeder, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greendale will take on Brown Deer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wisconsin Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
