Basketball Recap: Indiana Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Jake Gilbert and Kyle Stevens

Indiana Christian Academy saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 47-43 to the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Whirlwinds came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 11th in Indiana, while the Conquerors are ranked 181st in Florida).

Indiana Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyle Stevens, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 19 points, and Jake Gilbert, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 boards. Stevens continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Shepard Brown had another great game (as he tends to do), going 5-for-12 on his way to 17 points for West Florida Baptist Academy. Brown is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in each of the last five games he's played. Colin Harrison was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Indiana Christian Academy fell to 8-1. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Indiana Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heritage Hall Christian at 7:15 p.m. on the 19th. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-36 win against Pensacola Christian Academy on the 8th.
