Preview: Roswell Hornets vs. Sprayberry Yellow Jackets

Roswell has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Sprayberry Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Roswell is not getting complacent, as they comes into the match much higher ranked than Sprayberry in Georgia (Roswell is ranked 26th, while Sprayberry is ranked 156th).

Last Friday, Roswell was fully in charge, breezing past Pope 70-14 at home. The result was nothing new for Roswell, who have now won six contests by 37 points or more so far this season.

Nykahi Davenport continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 118 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Davenport is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Synkwan Smith also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Sprayberry can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game two weeks ago. They blew past Johns Creek 38-14. The victory was just what Sprayberry needed coming off of a 48-23 loss in their prior match.

Sprayberry relied on the efforts of Jaden Duckett, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and Demetrius Brown, who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry.

Roswell has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in seven of their first eight matchups, giving them a 7-1 record. As for Sprayberry, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday' contest: Roswell has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 405.2 total yards per game. It's a different story for Sprayberry, though, as they've been averaging only 152.7 per game. Will Roswell be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Sprayberry flip the ?

Everything came up roses for Roswell against Sprayberry when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roswell since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
