Basketball Recap: Sir'elmo Wright's Big Game Can't Quite Lead June Jordan School of Equity over Sterne

June Jordan School of Equity's game on Wednesday was all tied up 11-11 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sterne Dolphins. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-38 back in December of 2024.

June Jordan School of Equity's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sir'Elmo Wright, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Fitch, who had nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sterne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rico Duenas, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Duenas is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Andrew Jones was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

June Jordan School of Equity dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Sterne, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. June Jordan School of Equity will welcome O'Connell at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sterne, they will host Lycee Francais at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
