Baseball Recap: Shiner Finds Playoff Glory Versus Falls City

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Shiner walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Falls City Beavers on Thursday as they made off with a 7-1 victory. Considering the Comanches have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Landyn Pohler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jake Simper was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Schuette, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Shiner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Falls City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-11.

Shiner has already played their next contest, a 20-2 victory against Bartlett on the 16th. Falls City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
