Providence Academy will face off against the First Baptist Academy Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Providence Academy turned things around against Valley on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Vikings. The high-scoring effort was just what Providence Academy needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Avery Morgan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Eden Damron was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Honneycutt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Providence Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted an OBP of .483.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but First Baptist Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Knoxville Catholic.
Like Providence Academy, First Baptist Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Ava Mitchell. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Mitchell has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Harbison, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Rayliegh Jacobs, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs and one double.
Providence Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-10. As for First Baptist Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
